Samsung launches three Galaxy S20 5G models in US

South Korean mobile giant Samsung has taken aim at the big end of town with its release of the three Galaxy S20 series of flagship devices in the US on Tuesday.

All three variants of the model come with 5G connectivity. But they all cost a pretty penny, with the S20 costing US$999, the S20+ US$1199 and the S20 Ultra US$1399. Australian prices are not yet known.

“As we enter this new decade, 5G will completely change how we communicate and how we experience the world around us,” said Dr T.M. Roh, president and head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

“As all three Galaxy S20 variants come with 5G connectivity, Samsung is providing a next-generation device for transforming people’s lives. With an incredible, AI powered camera, you can capture the moments as they happen and connect more seamlessly with the people you love.”

The S20 comes with a 25W fast charger, with the S20 Ultra supporting 45W super fast chargin as well. There is plenty of storage, with the S20 having 128GB, the S20+ and S20 Ultra offering 128GB, 256GB or 512GB.

The three models will be available from 6 March and come in the following colours:

Galaxy S20: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, Cloud Pink

Galaxy S20+: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, Cosmic Black

Galaxy S20 Ultra: Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black


Between today and 5 March, Woolworths is offering $250 off the three S20 models for existing customers or those who sign up for a mobile plan.

Those who take up the offer will also get the chance to save 10% off their grocery shopping once a month during the plan period.

Additionally, a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds, valued at $299. will be given to those who take up the offer.

Optus says the three devices are available for pre-order from today in-store and online. The S20 is on a plan that costs $85.06 per month for 36 months with 60GB of included monthly data.

The S20+ 128 5G is on a plan for $89.24 per month for 36 months with 60GB of included monthly data.

And the top-line S20 Ultra 128 5G can be obtained on a plan for $104.52 per month for 36 months with 60GB of included monthly data.
