Optus boosts Adelaide mobile coverage

By

Optus has improved its 3G and 4G coverage in Adelaide, with 25 new and 150 upgraded sites.

Optus mobile customers in Adelaide should get better reception and throughput thanks to the company's activation of 25 new 4G sites and upgrades to more than 150 3G sites.

4G coverage is now available in "select areas" of the Adelaide CBD, North Adelaide, inner-east and south-east suburbs (including Hackney, Kent Town, Norwood, Beulah Park, Rose Park, Toorak Gardens, Dulwich, Glenside and Eastwood), western and inner-west suburbs (West Lakes including AAMI Stadium, Hindmarsh, Mile End, Hilton, Richmond and Netley, including the airport arrival and departure gates), Modbury (including Tea Tree Plaza shopping centre) and inner-south suburb (Unley and Wayville).

The company plans to add 100 new sites around Adelaide in addition to upgrading 100 more of its current sites, bringing further improvements to 3G and 4G coverage during the next 24 months.

"We made the promise earlier this year that we will be delivering some major initiatives that improve the coverage, speed and capacity of our 4G network, and enhance the strength and consistency of our 3G network," said Optus vice president of corporate & regulatory affairs David Epstein.

"The work that we will be carrying out over the next 24 months ensures that customers can continue to enjoy a fast, reliable mobile service that provides more choice and competition in a 4G world."
