OPPO hits Australian market with A72 low-budget smartphone

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has launched the A72 in Australia, another device aimed at the low end of the market, with the RRP being $299. It will be sold exclusively by Optus on pre-paid plans from 9 June.

A statement from OPPO said the smartphone had a 6.5-inch LCD screen with 1080x2400 resolution, a 665 Snapdragon processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The A72 runs ColorOS 7.1, OPPO's customised version of Android. This version is based on Android 10.

Security on the device is avaialble through the standard number and fingerprint locsk. There is no facial recognition.

A 48MP AI quad camera is claimed to provide pictures that are of good quality, with a 5000mAh battery to keep the device alive for longer than most others. It is claimed to charge from 0% to 50% in 45 minutes.
