iPad 2 reaches Optus

Availability of the iPad 2 is widening with the market-leading tablet making its debut at Optus.

Optus has begun offering the iPad 2 (Wi-Fi and 3G) on certain plans and on an outright basis for prepaid customers.

Available at "selected Optus retail locations", consumer prices start at $0 upfront for a 16GB iPad 2 on the $49 Optus Tablet Plan, rising to $10 monthly on the $59 plan for the 64GB model.

Businesses can get the 16GB model for $20 per month on top of a $29.95 plan, rising to $20 per month plus a $49.95 plan for the 64GB iPad 2.

Prepaid prices are $745 for the 16GB model, $845 for 32GB, and $945 for 64GB, all including up to 3GB of data over 30 days. A $40 recharge buys up to 5GB of data with 60 day expiry. There is no indication that the iPad 2 is locked to the Optus network.

Prices at the online Apple Store are $729, $839 and $949 respectively, but that excludes any data service.

Telstra started selling the iPad 2 last month.
