Huawei Australia Corporate Affairs director Jeremy Mitchell said in a statement that people in Australia who used Huawei devices would still receive security updates and be able to use Google apps.
His statement came after the US placed Huawei and 68 of its affiliates on a list that makes it compulsory for the company to seek permission if it wishes to buy any American products for manufacturing its devices.
That action last Thursday came shortly after the US officially banned the use of equipment from Huawei and ZTE Corporation, with President Donald Trump signing an executive order to this effect.
Said Mitchell: "Australian consumers will be able to continue using Google services like Google Play and Gmail on their Huawei phones as they normally would.
"Google Android updates will continue to be provided for Huawei EMUI and Google apps will not be affected."
