BlackBerry app from Weather Channel Australia

Weather Channel Australia has launched a local weather app for the BlackBerry.

The Weather Channel's new BlackBerry app delivers local and international weather information.

The handset's GPS is used to provide local information, or the user can enter a postcode to obtain a forecast for other areas. Reports are also available for more than 300 locations around the world.

The app also integrates with the BlackBerry calendar to display forecasts for scheduled events, and with the phonebook to display reports for contacts' locations.

"The app's ability to seamlessly synchronise with the user's calendar and contacts is a feature we're extremely excited about," says Julian Delany, general manager for The Weather Channel.

Report features include morning, noon and night forecasts; a ten-day outlook (seven days for overseas locations); and weather warnings.

The $A3.35 app is available from BlackBerry App World.
