New Zealand largest telco Spark says Huawei’s New Zealand marketshare of mid-range smartphones has reached an all-time high, as it launched the company's nova 3e smartphone in the local market.

“With an increasing demand for mid-range smartphones, and as Huawei’s New Zealand market share reaches an all-time high, the nova 3e will further elevate Huawei’s mid-range smartphones beyond its competitors,” says Spark.

And general manager for Huawei NZ Consumer Business Group, Gavin Cheng, says this year Huawei has seen record sales in New Zealand and is performing better than ever before.

“We believe the best of the best should be accessible for everyone, and we’ve worked hard to create a smartphone that can be sold at an affordable price-point, without compromising on quality," he said.

Spark’s general manager of Customer and Marketing, Richard Sandford, says: “It’s well known that the smartphone market is moving at an unprecedented rate, pushing the boundaries of innovation and design.

"However, year-on-year the cost of flagship smartphones is also on the rise and often out of reach for many. The HUAWEI nova 3e levels the playing field and delivers advanced features to everyday Kiwis that were previously only available in the premium market.

“Over the last four months the mid-range smartphone market has doubled in size. This is because the difference between a high to premium smartphone versus a mid-range smartphone is becoming progressively slimmer. Customers no longer need to spend thousands to get exceptional experience, with high-grade specifications and functionality."

Spark is pushing the new HUAWEI nova 3e as one of the only mid-range smartphones that unlocks with facial recognition and that it is exclusively available through Spark and partnering retail channels from today.

And to sweeten the deal, Spark is offering customers who purchase the nova 3e 24-month-interest free on its eligible pay monthly mobile plans a free set of Jaybirds headphones valued at NZ$329.
