Belkin starts year with new look & 'people inspired' product offerings

Belkin today unveiled new branding which it says communicates the company goal of delivering innovative product solutions and reinforces its commitment to creating 'people-inspired products'. The launch of the new look comes with the release of a raft of new products by Belkin at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

In its announcement about the new branding at the CES, with Belkin's motherhood statements on 'products that help all of us stay seamlessly connected to the people, activities, and things we love,' we're also told the new logo is 'affectionately named PIP for People Inspired Producs', and symbolising the company's 'commitment to take inspiration from people, and acknowledges the connection between people and the experiences they value most."

"In a future where connectedness will only increase, our products have one common goal, to ensure that technology exists to serve people, and never the other way around," gushes Ernesto Quinteros, Belkin's Chief Brand Officer.

And, what a coincidence, with the new 'PIP' branding coming at the same time as the return of Belkin founder, Chet Pipkin, to the role of president and CEO. "Belkin has come a long way since the days I was building computer cables in my parent's garage," said Pipkin. "But I'm excited to be back leading the charge of a revitalised Belkin, one that is synonymous for quality, innovation, and, most of all, products inspired by the potential of people."

Belkin's new brand identity is on display in the Belkin booth (South Hall #30651) at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and Quinteros says that, for the first time since 2008, the innovations showcased in the Belkin booth in 2012 reflect the 'renewed emphasis on making quality products that enhance the role of technology in people's lives.'

The company's new products debuting at CES include:

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
