Technology company MGM Wireless has contracted 12 new bricks and mortar retailers to sell its Spacetalk children’s all-in-one smartphone, watch and GPS wearable device.

MGM says the new stockists are specialist consumer electronics or computer retailers, primarily in the country areas of NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.

Ten are part of the Leading Edge Group — an association of over 950 independent business and retailers across Australia — and MGM says the rollout to additional members of the Leading Edge Group is continuing.

According to MGM, it continues to receive strong interest in the Spacetalk product and is in discussions with many more bricks and mortar retailers, distributors and mobile network operators in Australia and internationally.

It says it expects further announcements of significant bricks and mortar rollouts in the coming weeks.

Contracting of the new stores, announced on Thursday, follows MGM’s launch in April of a new family wearables division with the signing of two Telstra Shops franchises to retail Spacetalk.

Launching the new division, MGM said the bricks and mortar rollout followed strong and growing online sales from its allmytribe IoT website, with March sales reaching 82% of the pre-Christmas sales levels achieved in December 2017.

The deal with Telstra coincided with MGM’s announcement that it would meet demand for the Spacetalk kids’ smartphone watch device through a capital raising of up to $1.5 million via a placement to  institutional investors and existing shareholders via a Share Purchase Plan.
