Epson simplifies industrial robot management

Multiple industrial robots can be simultaneously managed via new software from Epson.

Epson Robot Management System simultaneously manages multiple Epson robots on a manufacturing line using networked PCs and tablets.

The system uses PCs and tablets connected to an intranet to centrally monitor a factory's industrial robots, acquire robot status backups, update firmware, and simultaneously update operating programs.

Previously, each robot had to be monitored and managed separately, which could be complicated and time consuming in factories with multiple robots.

The Epson Robot Management System thus increases the efficiency of factory operations.

The company's emphasis has previously been on tasks such as making complex applications more easily realisable, and reducing equipment setup times.

Epson is now aiming to enable smarter manufacturing and support factory administration.

Part of this change of direction is the development of systems that are compliant with OPC-UA (an industry standard communication protocol for IoT) and that apply AI to increasing the efficiency of robot operations and predicting failures.
