Peter Dinham - retired and is a "volunteer" writer for iTWire. He is a veteran journalist and corporate communications consultant. He has worked as a journalist in all forms of media – newspapers/magazines, radio, television, press agency and now, online – including with the Canberra Times, The Examiner (Tasmania), the ABC and AAP-Reuters. As a freelance journalist he also had articles published in Australian and overseas magazines. He worked in the corporate communications/public relations sector, in-house with an airline, and as a senior executive in Australia of the world’s largest communications consultancy, Burson-Marsteller. He also ran his own communications consultancy and was a co-founder in Australia of the global photographic agency, the Image Bank (now Getty Images).

More than 1,000 healthcare practitioners across Australia have signed up for 1stAvailable, a free online search and appointment service that the company says makes booking healthcare appointments as easy as buying a movie ticket.

Just one day after announcing a major restructure of its business including an unspecified number of proposed job cuts by sackings or natural attrition, News Limited has reportedly already brought the axe down on employees in the first round of retrenchments.

In scarcely 48 hours the Australian media landscape has changed dramatically, forever, as the two biggest rival media groups in the country - Fairfax Media and Rupert Murdoch’s News Limited - restructure their operations in a shift away from newspapers and print publications towards a digital future.
