NBN Co crowdsources photos for next Sky Muster rocket

By

If you're looking for a new reason to put a smile on your dial, NBN Co is offering to blast your face into space. Well, not your actual face, just a photo of it.

What this is about is that NBN Co's Sky Muster II satellite is scheduled for launch later this year.

The plan is to decorate the rocket's nose cone with a collage created from photographs of up to 1,210 Australians.

If you like that idea, you can submit your mug shot here, along with your thoughts on how access to fast internet via the NBN will benefit you.

Entries will be judged "on the basis of creativity and suitability," NBN Co said.

"Last year seven-year-old Bailey Brooks from a cattle station outside of Alice Springs won the opportunity to name the first NBN satellite and have her drawing printed on the nose cone of the rocket which launched it into space," said NBN Co satellite architect Julia Dickinson.

"This year, we are going one step further with the unique opportunity for people to submit photos which will be collated into a national portrait of our country.

"We are making history and we want to invite all Australians to be a part of it."

Remember to keep yourself nice, don't enter someone else's photo without their permission, and only submit a photo if you own the copyright or have some other entitlement to use it in this way. You won't win if you don't comply with the rules, so why bother?

NBN Co wants high-resolution photos (but no larger than 10MB), and you have until 22 May to enter.
