ISACA. With a distinguished history starting back in 1969, it is a global non-profit association of 140,000 professionals in 180 countries, helping those global professionals “lead, adapt and assure trust in an evolving digital world by offering innovative and world-class knowledge, standards, networking, credentialing and career development".
Part of the organisation's remit is holding a range of top-level conferences, with its most recent having happened earlier this month in Canberra, with the major keynote address by Alastair MacGibbon, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Cyber Security, Department of The Prime Minister and Cabinet.
MacGibbon was gracious enough to give me a few minutes of his time in a pre-interview before his must-watch keynote speech, where he talked about cyber security and the challenges this posed to government, industry and business, about his own personal views on encryption and those of the government, and much, much more.

The OceaniaCACS conference itself is the annual conference of ISACA within the Oceania region, and while it is a technology conference, we’re told that OceaniaCACS traditionally has a business focus, addressing the risk to business and the solutions that can be adopted within organisations facing the accelerating impact of technology driven change.
It was obvious by the strong attendance, quality speakers and even the exhibitors attending that the conference is “well respected as a valuable and enjoyable networking opportunity bringing together not only ISACA members, but others in senior governance, risk and assurance positions who are seeking to understand issues and find solutions in the area of technology risk and assurance".
Following my video interview with MacGibbon and his keynote address to the conference, came Mike Trovato, ISACA Melbourne Board Director, managing partner, Cyber Risk Advisors, and his second keynote presentation.
After that, Trovato and I had a one-on-one video interview. This was followed by a presentation by Sandra Ragg, Asst Secretary, Cyber Policy, Dept PM & Cabinet CACS Oceania 2017 on cyber security.
After midday, I had a great one-on-one video interview with Jo Stewart-Rattray, director of Information Security & IT Assurance, BRM Holdich, Director, ISACA International Board of Directors. She spoke about her journey in the world of tech, her role at global head of ISACA’s initiative on women in IT and the workplace, the SheLeadsTech advocacy programme and plenty more.
My last interview with ISACA executives for the day was with Matt Loeb, chief executive, ISACA. At the Oceania CACS 2017 Conference Loeb spoke to me about ISACA's mission, and Loeb's role as chief executive. We spoke about what to expect from his keynote speech on day 2 (which sadly I was unable to attend), and shared some stories about technology in general.
He spoke about cyber security today and into the future, great advice he’s received and his final message for viewers and readers.
All of the video interviews, two keynote presentations and one session recording are below!
