Bang & Olufsen has celebrated its 90th anniversary cementing itself, in its own words, ‘as one of the world’s most respected and desired audio visual brands,’ which is very easy to agree with.
The milestone coincides with the first Australian reveal of the state-of-the-art BeoLab90 digital loudspeaker and confirmation of the immediate expansion plans for Bang & Olufsen in Australia and New Zealand, which includes a new flagship store to open in Melbourne in early 2016.
Australian audiophiles were amongst the first in the world to experience the new BeoLab90 when it was displayed at an exclusive anniversary celebration in the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House, with the event able to be watched in its entirety in the video embedded directly below.
Available to order from January 2016, Bang & Olufsen says ‘BeoLab90 will offer expertly crafted, unparalleled sound experiences in the form of, what may well be, the most complete and powerful digital loudspeaker ever designed for use in the home.’
Explaining that BeoLab90 is ‘honouring nine decades of design, innovation, craftsmanship and passion, the BeoLab90 is designed to shape the future of sound,’ and that it is a ‘highly sophisticated speaker that contains a multitude of technologies and is the perfect mix of world-class design and acoustics,’ - and from what the assembled media could see today, that seems extremely apparent!
Bang & Olufsen says it has ‘gained momentum in Australia and NZ since it was acquired by luxury branded retail group, Emerald Group Investments (EGI) in May this year’ and says a number of Australian store openings are planned.
The company points its early 2016 expansion which will ‘commence with the opening of a Bang & Olufsen flagship on Russell Street, Melbourne.’
It will be a 400 square metre space that will ‘set a new standard for luxury audio and video retailing and will be one of the largest Bang & Olufsen showrooms in the world.’
The company promises this new site ‘will offer an unparalleled sensory experience where customers can experience the brand’s state-of-the-art offering as well as a showcase of products spanning the brand’s rich heritage.’
In addition to this, the company will also increase availability of the collections through an expanded distribution network making experiencing the product range more accessible to customers throughout Australia.
