Kogan reports lively LivePrice love

Do Aussies love Kogan's LivePrice? $329,965 worth of products sold since LivePrice's local launch may lay claim to such amorous status!

Kogan, the e-tail wonder company that sells direct to consumers while putting a rocket up old-world retail competitors who most would say are hardly normal, says its local LivePrice launch has 'shaken up the online retail industry and already proven a massive success.'

Kogan notes that 'despite only launching yesterday', the e-tailer claims to have 'already sold $329,965 worth of products through the LivePrice model' all through its website, because of the 'massive discounts' that LivePrice delivers on Kogan's 'already market leading prices'.

Whether Kogan's LivePrice leads to a conga line of e-tail and retail clones is yet to be seen, but for now, Kogan has the upper hand in giving his competition a pricing upper cut, presumably to the extreme delight of Kogan customers getting an additional discount.

Unsurprisingly, flushed with the success of blowing up yet another retailing Death Star in his K-wing fighter, Ruslan Kogan said that 'the time has come for online retailers to embrace innovation'.

Mr Kogan specifically said that: "The huge success of LivePrice shows that consumers embrace innovation, aren't afraid of change, and love a bargain on a great quality product.

"Retail is one of the fastest moving industries on the open market. Any manufacturer or retailer that's static will stagnate. Innovation is king.

"It's clear that only the most innovative retailers will succeed in 2011 and beyond," Mr Kogan concluded.

That is, perhaps, a lesson for us all - true innovation in life, love and business is, as always, what will take 2011 from being a year of 'meh' to a year of 'yeah!'.

There'll no doubt be more on the adventures of Ruslan Kogan soon, for whom 2011 is already a boon.

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
