iPad Mini fails the colour test

While the iPad Mini might boast an extremely sharp display and tiny form factor, online reports are suggesting the device may actually display fewer colours than its iPad Air sibling, and other tablets.

The news comes originally from AnandTech, which reported that after a range of tests, the colour gamut of the iPad Air was found to be wider than that of the iPad mini with Retina display.

The tests also showed that the new iPad mini’s color gamut was also inferior to Google's Nexus 7 and NVIDIA's Tegra Note 7, as well the Kindle Fire DX.

While the implications are not massive for most day-to-day users, the news means anyone on the fence about which iPad to purchase might now be swayed a particular way. Photographers for example might prefer the wider colour range seen in the iPad Air.
