Padacs has certainly introduced some innovative products, with its most popular being iPad wrap-around covers which come complete with inbuilt Bluetooth keyboards, with highly competitive global pricing compared with prices for very similar products that were quite a bit more expensive in the US, in US dollars, at a time last year when the Australian dollar was quite a bit weaker than the strong position it is in now.
Since that time, when Padacs released its initial 'rubberised' Bluetooth keyboard and iPad case combo, it has also released one with traditional plastic keys, with both being very popular iPad accessories, along with iPhone external battery packs to keep you juiced up when out and about, and given how battery hungry Apple's iPhones are, this too has been a popular accessory.
Undoubtedly there are iPad 2 accessories from Padacs on the way, too, especially given Apple's expectation that 2011 will be the year of the iPad 2.
Now, although this competition is a clear publicity grab, Padacs hasn't gone as far as betting JB Hi-Fi's CEO to a $1m bet to keep the publicity wheels greased, with that level of audacious Koganation still left in the lofty realms of publicity mastery one assigns to the Ruslan Kogans and Gerry Harveys of the world. That said, free iPad 2 models are still nothing to be sniffed at!
What Padacs wants you to do to be in the running to win one of the two white iPad 2 models is to simply 'sign up to receive special offers and promotions for the company's great range of iPad and iPhone 4 accessories', as they put it, and it surely is a clever way of building a database - one we fully expect others out there to copy!
Just as Kogan is now a multinational shipper of electronic goodies, so too is Padacs, which ships to the US, Canada and naturally, its home country of Australia.
So, what's the web address to enter the competition, and do we know the details of which iPad 2's will be won? Please read on to page two!
There's no mention as yet of which capacity the two white iPad 2 models will come in, or whether they'll be Wi-Fi only or 3G/Wi-Fi models, but in one sense, does it really matter?
That said, we have asked Padacs for clarification and we'll update this article when we get it.
You can enter the competition here at Padacs' site, with the competition opening today (March 9) and ending on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11.59pm - which is Central Standard Daylight Time or CSDT, not AEDT, as Padacs is headquarted in Adelaide - so don't leave your entry to the last minute.
Although Padacs will draw the winners of the competition on Friday April 1, it won't actually notify the winners until Monday, April 4, which as the Padacs media releases says is to 'make sure there's no doubt about April Fooling!'.
