The new laser TV projector brings what Epson says is “affordable, big, immersive entertainment to the home allowing “up to” 10 years of maintenance and hassle-free viewing for the whole family”.
“With people spending more time in their homes than ever before”, Epson tells us its “smart laser projection TV system gives users a flexible, easy to use and affordable option for big screen entertainment.
“With the high quality screen that can come bundled as part of the package, smart connectivity and high-quality long-lasting laser light source, there’s never been a better time to consider replacing your TV for a new, truly immersive smart laser projection home theatre experience”.
Shown as positioned just 38-inches from the screen in the video of the launch event embedded below, the EpiqVision’s ultra-short throw system mean the projector sits close to the wall and can produce a 1080p Full HD picture of up to 120 inches at a brightness of 3,600 lumens - which Epson says “is more than enough to enjoy viewing in most well-lit rooms”.
Here is the launch video where you can see this projector in action and a demonstration of some of its features. An initial upload of the video had some of the Jumanji video and audio sound quality being demonstrated, but keeping that part of the video in caused a copyright claim and global blockage of the video, so I edited that out but there's still plenty to see about the projector, its interface and more - what the article continuing below with plenty more detail - please read on!
The projector also uses Epson’s patented 3LCD technology - which Epson has just separately announced has clocked up 30 million sales since 1989, with the EH-LS300B having a high contrast ratio of 2,500,000:1 to ensure sharp images.
Top quality included Yamaha speakers and audio you can augment with any sound gear you already own
Epson tells us it has “partnered with Yamaha to create a unique audio experience unlike anything in its class.
“Developed exclusively for the Epson EpiqVision EH-LS300, Yamaha’s leading Acoustic Engineers designed a unique 2.1 sound system to deliver a true audiophile performance.
“Designed within a custom 3D Acoustic Enclosure, two high-end Yamaha drivers and a dedicated woofer, are powered by a discrete amplifier and tuned using Yamaha’s latest AudioEngin DSP technology to produce an impressive, deep and wide sound stage that rivals dedicated high-end audio systems and soundbars”.
Sharing and pairing, projecting and screen mirroring
Epson says that “sharing an entertainment experience is made easier for anyone in their home with the EpiqVision EH-LS300B projector by simply pairing it to their smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth.
“What’s more, optical out audio connectivity is ready on the EH-LS300B so it can be connected to an existing sound system in their home too”.
Of course, you can add an Apple TV to get tvOS apps, flawless Apple screen mirroring and more, while wireless HDMI solutions also exist for effortless Android screen mirroring, too.
100-inch and 120-inch special ALR screen packages
This bodacious laser TV projector can also come as a package that includes what Epson says is “an exceptionally well-valued 100” or 120” Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) screen, which delivers the complete solution enabling viewers to enjoy an enhanced ultra-high quality image and wide viewing theatre experience with no glare even in the brightest conditions in your home”.
Prices for those combinations is below.
Inbuilt smarts with up to 7000 apps.
The EpiqVision supports over 7,000 apps “enabling users to stream video-on-demand content, TV shows and series, live sporting events and the latest blockbuster movies”.
There is the one caveat that Netflix won’t cast to a Google Chromecast connected to the projector, but you could use an Amazon Fire TV stick, a Telstra TV, an Apple TV, a PC or Mac notebook or anything else connected via HDMI will get all the Netflix you want playing.
You can also experience “smart” entertainment on the unit by using its “added in-built casting feature or a separate streaming device, enabling you to stream content from smartphones, tablet and laptops”.
In addition, this epic projector “supports applications for those who work from home, further broadening its use
“Exclusively featuring Epson’s Online Meetings app, Powered by Zoom, you can connect with colleagues and have meetings on a 100” or 120” inch screen for engaging face-to-face meetings by simply attaching a video conference camera”
There is the caveat that the “video conference camera and microphone are not included with the projector”, and that “the camera with microphone must be purchased separately and connected via USB-A”, but if you want this functionality, it is possible to get it and have it work natively, just by adding the right camera.
There’s also what Epson says is the “great connectivity, easy set-up and alignment which make this smart home laser TV projector a great choice for home entertainment enthusiasts considering the best options for their large screen viewing”.
