Connect Station CS100: Canon enters home storage market

Camera and printer maker Canon has announced a 1TB storage device designed explicitly to hold photos and videos.

The Canon Connect Station CS100 provides 1TB of storage for photos and movies.

Content can be transferred from a device via CF and SD memory cards, USB or Wi-Fi, with support for the NFC functionality of certain Canon cameras.

Once stored on the CS100, photos and videos can be displayed on an HDMI TV (a remote control is included), or on other devices via a web interface.

PictBridge support means images can be printed directly to compatible Wi-Fi printers.

The CS100 also works with the Canon iMage Gateway online storage service and Canon's irista cloud-based image management system to share images and movies with other people.

The company said "Albums can also be sent in full resolution to other Connect Station CS100s, allowing you to share with friends and families around the world, so they can enjoy and print at a later date."

The Connect Station CS100 is scheduled for local release in June. The price has yet to be revealed.
