Home Home Tech LAUNCH VIDEO: Huawei Mate 20 Series now in Australia, pre-order offer extended to Nov 9

If you've been tempted by Huawei's new Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro smartphones, the company says it is extending the pre-order offers until 9 November due to "high demand".

It's true that Huawei's Mate 20 Pro smartphone is one of the most powerful models available on the planet in late 2018, with a plethora of features designed to outdo all competitors by raising the bar tremendously.

The features and resultant benefits are incredible, and start with a trio of cameras including features such as 40 megapixel photography, through to 18.8:9 ultra wide screen shots, or a night mode that seems to turn night into day.

You can even record videos in 21:9 ultra wide screen on steroids, negating the need to move backwards if a wider frame of view needs to be filmed.

There's the ability to charge wireless at 15w, outdoing all other phones that are 5w, 7.5w or 10w only, while the included charger and cable allow a 70% charge of the whopping 4200mAH battery in just 30 minutes.

Or perhaps its the fact you can charge other wireless devices with the Mate 20 Pro's reverse wireless charging capability.

Maybe you'll be enamoured by the accurate under-screen fingerprint sensor, coupled with the infrared 3D depth sensing camera that works even when your Mate 20 Pro is sideways, rather than just vertical. ,

You could want a phone that just isn't as wide as the latest flagships from Apple, Samsung and Google, thus resting more easily in the palm of your hand.

Meanwhile Huawei's 7nm Kirin 980 chipset and neural processing capability outshines the tech that Samsung and Google can offer, while being the only other company besides Apple to offer 7nm processing tech to customers.

Whether its the latest Android 9 Pie OS, dual SIM support, expandable memory, AI smarts, macro photography, a notched display with ability to hide the notch, superfast LTE and Wi-Fi support and much more, as I looked at in my Huawei Mate 20 Pro article here, the new model is a beast that will certainly tempt the hearts, minds and wallets of those looking at the current crop of ultra-premium flagships right now.

Yesterday, 1 November, was the official launch of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro in Australia, which Huawei calls the "Mate20 Series" without a space between Mate and 20, and the company says it has been the most popular smartphone it has ever made.

Citing "high demand" for the Mate 20 range, "with all pre-order offers completely sold out within days of being announced", the company has decided to extend its pre-order offer for an extra week, until Friday 9 November 2018, whereby those who order the Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro get extra goodies as an incentive to order early.

The Mate 20 Pro can be ordered from Optus, Vodafone, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Mobile Citi and Kogan, which adds the bonuses of the Huawei FreeBuds as well as its new 15 watt wireless charging pad, worth A$348 together, with the new order deadline to quality extended until 9 November.

The Mate 20 can be ordered from Vodafone, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Mobile Citi and Kogan, and has the bonus of the Huawei FreeBuds, worth A$199, again as long as you order by new Friday 9 November deadline.

Here's the video of the Huawei Mate20 Series launch event at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art on 1 November, recorded on the Mate 20 Pro in ultra-widescreen mode:
