Tintri's pitch is that its smart storage systems are application-aware and virtualisation-aware, dramatically reducing the setup and ongoing management effort - storage for thousands of virtual machines can be managed in one person-hour per week - while the 'flash first' design provides high performance at a reasonable cost per gigabyte.
As recently reported, Tintri's same-year repurchase rate is 2.5x, suggesting that the products really live up to the company's claims. Almost 70% of customers have made an additional purchase.
The number of live virtual machines running on Tintri storage has almost doubled to 200,000 since the start of the year, company officials announced today.
"Enterprises are looking for storage that can meet the growing demands of virtualised workloads and private cloud deployments. The large number of VMs we now support in production environments running some of the most demanding business applications shows customers' confidence in our product, enterprise-class support and overall business operation."
The company also noted that more than 1000 people in 31 countries are now Tintri-certified, a 354% increase since this time last year.
