Epson has launched a document scanner aimed at small business and home users, along with two software packages – Epson’s ScanSmart Accounting Edition Software and Nuance Power PDF.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday that the WorkForce ES-500WR had been designed to make the process of organising and sharing financial documents easier.

The ScanSmart software has a number of document management tools to preview, email, upload and organise receipts, invoices and financial documents among others. It has a receipt manager feature that can pull data from receipts and invoices and export it to Quickbooks Online or Excel.

There is also a file-naming and receipt recognition tool which has machine-learning to identify vendor names and logos and make the location of specific data easy.

The scanner allow users to wirelessly scan two-sided reports, business cards and receipts to laptops and work equally well on Windows or macOS, tablets and smartphones. It can also scan to cloud storage accounts or to searchable PDFs and editable Word and Excel files.

The Nuance software works on Windows® and there is a PDF Converter for the Mac; users can create, convert and assemble searchable PDFs, and also annotate, highlight and redact.

The ES-500WR will be available from the company's Australian website and can also be purchased from Epson resellers and retailers from March 2020 onwards. The RRP is $699 inclusive of GST.
