An anonymous Amazon employee has called on the company's leadership to stop selling its facial recognition software, Rekognition, to law enforcement bodies in the US because it "runs counter to Amazon's stated values".

Two researchers from DATACTIVE, a University of Amsterdam project that examines the politics of big data, and four from the University of Cardiff's Data Justice Lab have decided to boycott October's Amsterdam Privacy Conference due to the fact that the data-mining US firm Palantir is a major sponsor of the event.
