Ericsson morphs into three new units

Ericsson has restructured its business into three "more customer-oriented" units: Networks, Global Services and Multimedia with the main aim being to strengthen its ability to exploit the growing market for the delivery of multimedia services, especially to mobile devices. The new organization will be in effect as of January 1, 2007.

Intel and Siemens Communications are to collaborate on secure wireless networks and to create VoIP-based unified communications systems.


China Mobile, KPN, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Vodafone have joined forces to develop a common vision for mobile networks beyond today's incompatible and competing technologies from the WCDMA and CDMA200 camps: HSPA and EV-DO.
