The competition watchdog, the ACCC, has initiated court action against Internet provider Activ8me for allegedly making false or misleading representations over advertising of its broadband services.

Telecommunications services provider TPG Telecom is facing allegations in the Federal Court by Australia’s competition watchdog, the ACCC, that it engaged in misleading conduct about a $20 "pre-payment" made by consumers, and including unfair pre-payment contract terms in some of the its plans.

Hearing aid retailers Oticon Australia and Sonic Innovations have been hit with fines of $2.5 million by the Federal Court for misleading advertising claims that hearing aids for pensioners included wireless technology that would allow users to connect them to digital devices like televisions and mobile phones.
