Resolving phone and Internet issues costs Australians over $150 million per year in lost time, according to new research from Australia's communications consumers peak body, the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN).

The decision by National Broadband Network operator, NBN Co to extend its Education Assistance offer until 15 January 2021, has earned the praise of communications consumers peak body ACCAN, which says the targeted offer from the company waives the wholesale costs for many services on the 25/5 Mbps speed tier - and encourages telcos to offer free or heavily discounted NBN plans to low-income households with school-aged children.

VMware launches 5G telco cloud platform

IT infrastructure software vendor VMware has announced its 5G Telco Cloud Platform that includes Tanzu Kubernetes Grid which it says allows Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to "reliably build", manage and run containerised workloads across private, telco, edge and public clouds.
