In a review of taxation arrangements for satellite services released in a 12-page document on Tuesday, the Australian Communications and Media Authority has outlined cuts for apparatus licence taxes, which will take effect on 5 April.
Optus is installing nine satellite small cells along almost 2000km of highway across Western Australia which the telco says provide the potential for an inexpensive and flexible alternative to traditional mobile towers.
Optus Satellite has achieved the highest level of certification - Tier 4 - for its teleports at Belrose in Sydney, and Lockridge in Perth through the World Teleport Association (WTA).
