Over $1.26 million has been lost by Australians to government impersonation scams, according to a new report from the ACCC’s Scamwatch service.
Scammers are now trying to exploit Australians financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission which says that new superannuation scams have been reported to its Scamwatch service in recent weeks.
The Australian Government's myGov website has crashed as taxpayers pile on to file their returns in a bid to get the sum of a little over $500 that will come to some as part of the laws to cut tax passed recently.
