Folding phones are the big new thing for 2019, with Huawei's 5G-capable Mate X taking the fight right up to Samsung's Galaxy Fold, both due by mid-2019, and the previewed but unavailable until 2020 DragonHinge screens from TCL.
Is the end of flat screens nigh? Probably not, as flat devices are sure to be with us for years yet, but with TCL's patented DragonHinge set to fire up MWC 2019, the Game of Phones is set to enter a whole new chapter.
A truly foldable smartphone still seems as far away as a roll-up TV or twistable tablet, but Samsung suggests a Note with a “bendable display” might show up in 2018.
That is astounding.
