The competition watchdog, the ACCC, has initiated court action against Internet provider Activ8me for allegedly making false or misleading representations over advertising of its broadband services.
Telecommunications consumer interest lobby group ACCAN says rural and remote telecoms consumers will be better protected if recommendations put forward by the 2018 Regional Telecommunications Review are adopted by the Australian Government. But it has harsh criticism of regional consumers being promised telecoms services that could not be delivered.
New Zealand's competition enforcement and regulatory agency, the Commerce Commission, is undertaking public consultations on the consumer protections and proposed process that will regulate the changeover from copper to fibre on the county’s broadband network.
