South Korean smartphone giant Samsung will launch a series of budget smartphone models in India before it releases them in other countries, in a bid to beat back the challenge from Chinese vendors.
Chinese brands Huawei and Xiaomi are driving the growth of the global smartphone market at the expense of declining Samsung marketshare and flat sales for Apple which is facing a saturated premium smartphone market for its products.
Smart speaker shipments reached 19.7 million units in the third quarter of 2018, a rise of 137% year-on-year, the analyst firm Canalys reported, adding that this tied in with its forecast of 75 million units for the year.
