‘New world record’ for wireless data

A week after Samsung’s supposed 5G breakthrough, German researchers have announced 40 Gbps wireless, comparable to speeds reached by fibre.

Three of Australia's largest telecoms companies have spent a combined total of just under $2 billion to secure newly available wireless broadband spectrum in the Government's Digital Dividend auction. Telstra, Optus Mobile and TPG have secured a total of 200 MHz of bandwidth in the 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz bands, with Telstra and Optus taking the lions share.
