Universal interoperability between videoconferencing systems has come one step closer: several of the world's largest telcos have teamed up with major telco infrastructure and videoconferencing vendors to exploit cellular networking standards to deliver interoperability between videoconferencing endpoints.
Nine major telcos, including Telstra, have joined forces to form the Global Meeting Alliance, dedicated to facilitating video communications between customers on their respective networks.
AARNet has joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC) - the body created by Polycom last June to develop telepresence interoperability across the networks of different service providers.
