The Australian Communications and Media Authority has issued new rules providing regulatory safeguards for consumers moving to services delivered over the NBN – cautioning telcos to take immediate steps to embed the rules in their business practices.
The Federal Government has proposed new rules for resolving telecommunications consumer complaints, including setting up an External Dispute Resolution body to deal with complex complaints, that would lead to changes in the setup of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.
Communications Minister Mitch Fifield has questioned the manner in which the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman has calculated the percentage rise of complaints relating to services deliver over the national broadband network.
