The newly announced Trading Post auction site launched by Telstra's directories arm Sensis will be hard pressed to threaten eBay Australia's dominance, according to telecoms research group Ovum. Analyst Steve Hodgkinson believes eBay's first mover e-commerce advantage in Australia will probably be too much to overcome unlike the case in New Zealand but eBay could still be under threat from its own overconfidence.

With Google reporting higher mobile usage than ever, especially through the iPhone, pre-Google information services are striking back with their own mobile search apps. In Australia, the local version of the “Yellow Pages” is reporting surging levels of people accessing the service through mobile phones, across all carriers, in line with growing search demand - while Sensis also gives us an update on progress with its iPhone search application.

Sensis gears up to carry video advertising

Telstra's directory and online information services arm, Sensis, has signed up KIT digital (formerly the ROO Group) to enable its advertisers to deliver video messages via Sensis webs sites.
