Why Slashdot owes Apple an apology

Does the fact that Apple has a well-developed operating system based on UNIX rile some people who claim to be FOSS boosters? I'd like to think it doesn't but last week I noticed something on the American technology news accumulator site Slashdot that really made me wonder.

At times like these, when proprietary software companies and turncoats from within the FOSS sphere are actively engaged in a battle to dominate standards, it is good to have a company like Red Hat on-side.

The penguin begins the march south

There's still nearly 11 months to go before the penguin sets up camp on the Apple Isle but the wheels are slowly being cranked into motion by the Tasmanian Linux Users Group as they prepare to host the 2009 Australian national Linux conference.
