Microsoft is set to provide cloud hosting for the trial of the Federal Government's Govpass ID solution in October, after the Digital Transformation Agency, the government agency that will oversee implementation of the ID solution, announced that it had adopted the company's Azure service as its cloud solution.
Australia is scheduled to begin a trial of its Govpass ID system in October, a mere two months down the line. Yet, nobody knows who will be the cloud host for the system after Vault Systems (which has recently rebranded itself as Vault) was unceremoniously yanked from the job.
ASD-certified Protected cloud provider Vault Systems has lost its role as cloud host of the Govpass ID system, with the government's Digital Transformation Agency deciding instead that the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Human Services would assume responsibility for hosting the components of the digital identity system.
