Music pirate ordered to pay US$1.92 million

A Minnesota woman found guilty of violating music copyrights on 24 songs was assessed damages of $80,000 per song, for a grand total of $1,920,000.

The Autodesk case makes sampling legal

The music industry is in deep dog-doo.  They just haven’t figured out which breed the dog is.  Or where it went!

How many companies survive using a long-term strategy that assumes their customers will steal their product?  Only one group I know of seems to have turned this into their primary business model.  But can they actually make money from it?
