Everyone gather round, do a square dance and jiggle your hands in the air with joy. Apple's ridiculous exclusive carrier arrangement for iPhone is now history. How do I know this? Well Apple has just signed an iPhone deal with Vodafone.

Curiouser and curiouser – the one company nobody really expected to get the iPhone, in Australia at least, has officially announced it will soon offer it for sale. But this doesn’t mean that initial rumours that all Australian carriers would be able to sell the iPhone aren’t true – until we get further confirmation.

So, CNET.com.au says an anonymous industry insider has confirmed Optus will be one of the carriers in Australia to get the iPhone, while not being an exclusive deal. Surely it’s a 3G iPhone, and if Telstra doesn’t also get it, you can bet they’d be mighty unhappy.
