The Tasmanian government has ended its five year relationship with Telstra as its sole provider of mobile phone services with the award of a three year contract to Optus, but says it expects Telstra to retain a substantial portion of the business because of its superior coverage.

Optus has added SIP trunking and Internet access services to its MPLS network, Optus Evolve, launched last October.

Some were sceptical when Steve Jobs said the iPhone 3G would be sold around the world for $US199, but if you allow a little poetic licence it seems to be coming true. At least, that happens to be the case in Japan.
