This advertising stinks!

No, not a value judgement, simply a statement of fact: Japanese telco NTT Com is offering digital signs equipped with aroma-emitting devices "to strengthen the impact of marketing communications." Apparently they are very effective.

Some were sceptical when Steve Jobs said the iPhone 3G would be sold around the world for $US199, but if you allow a little poetic licence it seems to be coming true. At least, that happens to be the case in Japan.

The most spectacular rumour doing the rounds of telecoms and IT news sites right now must be that 15 of the world's biggest carriers - AT&T, BT, Deutsche Telecom, NTT etc - are planning to launch their own free VoIP service to compete with, and hopefully destroy, Skype. Does this have any legs?
