Optus has completed the rollout of 37 new mobile sites across Tasmania in the last 12 months as part of its $42.2 million investment in the state, aimed at improving call quality and faster download speeds for mobile customers.
Optus has consolidated and expanded its services to government with the securing of a $6 million deal to provide the Australian Government’s Department of Health with telecommunications products and services, including Wide Area Network, mobile and voice services to the department’s 5000 users.
Australia's second largest telco Optus suffered a drop in profits for the quarter ending 30 June despite increasing revenue and subscriber numbers. The company's latest financial report for the quarter to the end of June this year revealed net profits for the three months dropped by 3.5% to $154 million from $160 million for the corresponding period in 2017.
