Windows ransomware attacks cost Australia about US$39.8 million (A$60.4 million) in ransom demand costs in 2019 at the minimum, a study by the security firm Emsisoft has found. The estimated cost of these attacks, totalling 2874, was US$159.4 million.

Italy to levy tax on digital firms from 2020

Italy will become the second European country to levy a tax on digital firms, with the country's parliament passing the necessary legislation which will take effect from 1 January 2020.
