US copyright board freezes download royalty rate

The US Copyright Royalty Board has decided the royalty rate paid to music publishers in respect of CD and digital download sales should remain unchanged. Good news for music buyers and for Apple?

The latest move in Apple v Psystar is a motion to dismiss the cloner's allegation that Apple has violated antitrust law. If the judge agrees, it could mean an earlier end to the case.

Jammie Thomas file sharing verdict overturned

A US judge has ordered a retrial in the civil case that saw Minnesota woman Jammie Thomas slugged with a damages bill of hundreds of thousands of dollars for alleged copyright infringement via peer-to-peer filesharing.
