Vodafone Hutchison Australia and TPG Telecom have said they intend to challenge the ACCC's turning down of their merger proposal in the Federal Court.
Both TPG Telecom and Vodafone Hutchison Australia will make sufficient concessions to the ACCC that would see TPG remaining in the market as a price-fighter brand, well-known telecommunications analyst Paul Budde says, three days ahead of the date on which a final decision on the proposed merger between the two companies is due to be handed down.
Vodafone Hutchison Australia chief executive Iñaki Berroeta may lack many attributes, but you cannot accuse the man of lacking chutzpah. Nothing else could account for the fact that he is now beginning to float the idea that his company should be paid compensation for the fact that it cannot use Huawei gear in its 5G network rollout.
That is astounding.
