Panasonic's new Blu-ray player won't be their last

Panasonic's DMP-BD30 might have the Blu-ray 1.1 ‘Final Profile’ – but it will be superseded by future Blu-ray 2.0 spec players in the future. That said, it’s still packed with features – but wouldn’t you just buy a PS3 instead?

Xbox 360 HD DVD drive given heave-ho by MS

In a move that is of no surprise to anyone, Microsoft has finally decided it will no longer manufacture the HD DVD add-on drive for the Xbox 360, although they will naturally continue to support customers who purchased the drive.

So, Universal: when will we see a Blu-ray title?

Now that NHK have reported Toshiba’s imminent announcement of HD DVD’s death, Universal’s declaration earlier this year, in Australia, of ‘at least’ 20 new titles during 2008, must look very shaky. How long now before they too jump ship and go Blu?
