US trade curbs force Huawei to end $136m rail contract with WA

The Australian arm of Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has been forced to abandon a $136 million deal with the Western Australian Government due to trade restrictions imposed on the firm by the US Government.

Basslink says new report supports its claim on cable failure

The company that manages the undersea data and power cable that links Tasmania to the Australian mainland says an additional inquiry commissioned into the failure of the cable in December 2015 is now complete and reiterates what was said earlier: that the failure was caused by unknown factors.
