Had Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies not been banned from tendering for Australia's 5G networks, there is no doubt that local operators — TPG, Vodafone and Optus — would have been among the most advanced 5G operators and competitors would be forced to keep up, the chief corporate affairs officer of the Chinese vendor's local operation claims.

COVID-19 initially slowed mobile phone sales in the Asia Pacific and disrupted supply chains and demand for certain 5G-related end verticals, according to a new analyst report which now forecasts that digital factory revenues are primed for a post-COVID recovery worth US60 billion by 2030.

Swedish telecommunications equipment vendor Ericsson has shown off its ability to build high-capacity low-latency 5G networks by demonstrating the first live C Band network with throughput of 5.4Gbps at its North American headquarters in Texas.
