Filtering: Final policy is still in the pipe

For all its controversy, federal internet filtering plans were not set in stone and the feasibility of Government objectives were still to be weighed against data from its live pilot trial.

Communications minister Stephen Conroy has issued draft guidelines for the Government's "$60 million" Digital Regions Initiative, and they indicate funding will be only $53.4m. A spokesman for the minister said that $6.6m had been set aside to cover administration and running costs for the four years of the programme.

AMTA slams KPMG international roaming report

The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) has slammed the report on international mobile roaming charges produced by KPMG for the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
