The NSW Government is planning to build smart technology into infrastructure and buildings in a move its says will create jobs, cut traffic and commute times, slash water bills, reduce crime and boost the economy and turn New South Wales into the "smart state".
Macquarie Telecom Group has called on the Australian Government to act on its new cyber security strategy immediately, saying that the strategy “crucially paves the way” for the creation of sovereign jobs and skills development in Australia “when it’s needed most”.
The Australian Government is investing $1.67 billion in its 2020 cyber security strategy which it says will protect and strengthen the security and resilience of Australia’s critical infrastructure, and ensure law enforcement agencies have the powers and technical capabilities to detect, target, investigate and disrupt cyber crime – including on the dark Web.
